Update on the $GAIN Token Hack • Our Ethereum token is safe and unaffected. • The attacker deployed the malicious peer contract on the Ethereum network exploiting cross-chain endpoint and minting ~5B fake $GAIN tokens on Binance Smart Chain. • The hacker sold ~2.8% of the minted fake token for estimated USD3m. • Initial investigation shows no evidence of insider criminal behaviour but the indication that one of the private keys was compromised. Immediate action we took: • We disabled our cross-chain connection to prevent further unauthorized minting via the bridge. • Exchanges notified to halt deposits, withdrawals, and trading of $GAIN on BSC. • Liquidity pool on Pancakeswap shut down. • Law enforcement notified. Current status: We have engaged an independent security firm and preparing a new token and distribution based on snapshots to restore legitimate balances.
