This is an incredibly difficult day, and I want to start by offering my deepest, most sincere apologies to the entire Griffin AI community. Most importantly: this malicious attack does not impact the long-term outlook of Griffin AI. I've been working in crypto for 9 years, and this security incident is still shocking to me. I need to take full responsibility: a misconfigured layer Zero (cross-chain messaging) set-up and compromised key enabled the hacker to exploit the bridge to Binance Smart Chain. This happened on my watch. As CEO, it is my responsibility to enforce our security procedures on all and every team member day in and day out. I am truly sorry for the uncertainty, disruption and loss this has caused on you. We are working day and night to fix this and have a clear plan of how to make it happen. Details can be found in the post from @Griffin_AI X account. Here are the key points: - The Breach: An attacker exploited a cross-chain endpoint to mint 5B fake $GAIN tokens on the BSC network. They managed to sell roughly 2.8% of these fake tokens for an estimated USD $3 million. - Immediate Actions: We secured the cross-chain connection, notified all exchanges to halt $GAIN deposits/withdrawals/trading, shut down the Pancakeswap LP, and engaged law enforcement. - The Path Forward: We have brought on independent security and development companies for a full post-mortem. Together with them, we are preparing for an immediate migration to a new, fully audited token. We will restore legitimate balances for our community based on pre-hack snapshots. Your trust is everything, and we know the work required to earn it back is substantial. The entire team is mobilized, committed, and focused on one goal: restoring balances and relaunching GAIN secured with the hard lessons learned from this attack. We will share the full migration plan and timeline very soon. We are confident we will overcome this disruption and emerge as community even stronger than before.
